Group Senzala Scotland, was formed in the year 2000 by Mestre Pedro and today regular classes are held all over Scotland in Edinburgh, Glasgow, Dundee and St. Andrews. Our aim is to promote and develop Capoeira and the Brazilian culture in Scotland and demonstrate the many benefits that Capoeira can bring to people.
Capoeira is an art form combining martial arts and dance, which formed in Brazil and was created by the African slaves as a form of self-defence and cleverly disguised as a dance. Today, Capoeira is practised all over the world and the benefits of practising or training such an art form is endless.
- Capoeira is a great way to keep fit and is suitable for all ages and levels of ability.
- It will improve your fitness, balance, flexibility and agility as well as help you lose weight, tone your muscles and increase your strength.
- In addition, it will develop your coordination, rhythm and music skills.
- And not forgetting the fact that you will learn about another culture and it’s a fantastic way to meet people of different nationalities and backgrounds.
Capoeira is also suitable for children of all ages, backgrounds and abilities and we would be delighted to welcome more children to the group. Click on the following link to see the timetable for: Children´s Capoeira classes in Edinburgh and Glasgow.
