Capoeira for Kids
Capoeira is a Brazilian art form which combines several elements in a game including rhythm, martial art, dance, history and music. It is an environment where children have the chance to work on their coordination whilst learning movements of Capoeira as well as working on their autonomy, creativity, social integration and responsibility.
Capoeira works each individual´s body according to their own personal experience. The movement taught is assimilated and developed according to each one’s identity, personality and expression. Capoeira can contribute to a child’s self-esteem and psychomotor development, the progressive attainment if skills that involve both mental and muscular activity by a child.
Group Senzala teaches children the movements of Capoeira through playful experiences giving them the opportunity to express learned movements independently, creatively and in a fun way. In addition to the physical element, Capoeira is a fantastic way for children to meet others, interact with each other and learn to play musical instruments.
Capoeira has gradually been introduced to primary schools over the years where Instructor Paula now teaches on a regular basis. Paula extremely enjoys working with children and seeing them develop and benefit from the art form, and has held a number of workshops and performances at various schools in Scotland.
Capoeira is suitable for children of all ages, backgrounds and abilities and we would be delighted to welcome more children to the group.
